Founded in 1997, the Ninkasi brewery and distillery is at the heart of the Rhône region. Winegrower and distiller, Alban Perret traveled the famous wine regions to meet with his fellow winegrowers and select the best barrels to age their whisky. Ninalys Single Malt is distilled from the finest malted barley brass, combining Ninkasi’s brewer expertise, their French distilling “savoir-faire” and the treasures of their wine regions.
Distilled from French Pilsen malted barley, Ninalis Single Malt Whisky is aged 3 years in French oak barrels, previously used for Chardonnay Viognier wine.
The first scent is fruity and expressive, mirabelle plum and vine peach reminiscent of a spring orchard. Tart notes follow, with jammy fruits (blackberry, blackcurrant ) enhanced by honey.
On the palate Ninalys chardonnay is luscious, buttery, and tarty. The fruit is omnipresent (peach, apricot ). Malty notes then arrive with sweet spices such as vanilla and tonka bean. A very light salinity give it an impeccable balance.
The final sensation is very smooth and honeyed, with candied fruits.
The retro-nasal olfaction is on the apricot kernel. Notes of vanilla and Tonka bean rise from the emptied glass.
3 years in French oak barrels, previously used for Chardonnay Viognier wine.
